The idea grew like a W32/Yayin-A Worm with redditors creating WorldBackupDay.net, and an official twitter account @worldbackupday and #worldbackupday hashtag. They have even partnered with some backup providers and services to provide some discounts and related contests to redditors, so you have no excuse not to backup your data anymore. GigaOM and ReadWriteWeb have even helped spread the news about World Backup Day, so this looks to be well on it's way to becoming an annual event.
